Thermofluids Instructor

A probationary position at the rank of Senior Instructor/Instructor II/Instructor I are available in the area of thermofluids and energy systems in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Manitoba. The starting date is July 2010. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The minimum requirement for the qualified candidate for an Instructor I/II is a Master's degree in a related discipline and for Senior Instructor, a Ph.D. in a related discipline. Ability to teach in other disciplines of mechanical and manufacturing engineering is an asset. Candidates must demonstrate ability to teach effectively, be passionate, dynamic and inspirational teachers, and possess excellent oral and written skills. Duties will include the following:

  • Teach five undergraduate courses in each calendar year.

  • Teach courses with significant laboratory and design content.

  • Assist/lead course, laboratory and curriculum development.

The above duties comprise the teaching component of the position. The service component may include service and administrative duties within the University at both Faculty and University levels and outside in the community. In particular, candidates will be expected to take part in the service-related activities of the Department, with particular emphasis on items relating to undergraduate instruction. There is no formal research component in this position. Qualified candidates must within an acceptable period of time become registered as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba.
